Meet Dr. Chan
Dr. Chan is thrilled to be able to practice dentistry and serve the community in which he grew up. Dr. John Chan was born in Hong Kong, grew up in the South Bay and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the USC School of Dentistry. He has partnered with Dr. Issac Huang and is very pleased to be serving his home community.
Upon graduation from USC, Dr. Chan received an International Congress of Oral Implantologists and CAMLOG USA predoctoral award for excellence in dental implant studies, and later further nurtured this interest by completing the LLUSD & AAID Implant MaxiCourse®, a 300-hour continuing education program presented by Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and the American Association of Implant Dentistry. this program trains general dentists in implant diagnostics, planning, placement, and restoration.
From 2012 through 2013, Dr. Chan was appointed a clinical adjunct instructor at the University of Southern California (USC) Emergency Dental Clinic. During this time he trained rotational groups of dental students in the diagnosis and treatment of acute dental pain and trauma.
As dentistry has become increasingly integrated with medicine, Dr. Chan recognizes the importance of taking care of his patient’s dental needs in specific relation to each patient’s health condition. Dr. Chan is an advocate of minimally invasive dentistry rendered in the gentlest manner in conjunction with unrushed personal communication. Skilled in microscope-enhanced dentistry, Dr. Chan extensively utilizes the dental microscope and digital photography for precise diagnosis and quality treatment. Besides English, Dr. Chan is fluent in Cantonese Chinese and can communicate with Mandarin and Japanese speaking patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Chan enjoys hiking with his wife, golfing, spending time with family, and playing the guitar.
